How to call a patient in hospital

Patientline’s telephone service is designed to help you speak directly to the right patient without having to speak to the nurse station.

Each patient has their own personal telephone number.

If you don't know their personal telephone number you can call our
Customer Care Team
on 0870 212 1234 (calls charged at national rate).

Calling from abroad

You can dial Patientline telephone numbers beginning with 0704 from other countries.

How to dial

  • Dial the number that allows you make an international call (for example 00), followed by the country code for the United Kingdom (44) - i.e. 00 44
  • Then dial the patient's personal telephone number taking care not to dial the first 0 - for example, 00 44 704 456 4567

Check here for or a list of numbers that allows you to reach an international line.

If you cannot get through there are two possible reasons:

  • You might be dialling the wrong number. Please check that you have the right number and that you are following the correct dial procedure (outlined above).
  • Your telephone company may not allow you to make calls to 070 numbers in the United Kingdom. If this is the case, you should contact your local telephone company or try using a different network.

If you are still having difficulty please call our
Customer Care Team
on 00 44 1753 89 61 98 (calls charged at standard international rates).

Alternatively patients at some hospitals can use email. This may be a good alternative if you are having difficulty calling in from abroad.
